Spring 2027 Internship

Executive Shepherd Intern

Durham, NC · January 11 – June 30, 2027 · 15–20 hrs/week · Sundays required

Priority deadline: November 20, 2026. Applications are reviewed weekly. Internships begin the week of January 11, 2027.

About Krino

Krino (Greek: κρίνω) means to discern, to judge, to separate. Krino Church is a new, Bible-teaching church plant in Durham built on one idea: faith is a line you choose to cross. Discern. Decide. Walk forward. We are Biblically Rooted, Spirit Led and Diverse. We gather in a coworking space, worship one Sunday a month in unexpected Durham places (barbershops, cafes, thrift stores), and serve dinner to our unhoused neighbors twice a month.

The role

You’ll serve as the right hand to Pastor Ezekiel Taylor, Krino Shepherd, and learn the work of an Executive Pastor from the inside: caring for people, running the Sunday machine and building the systems a young church needs. This is not a shadowing internship. You will own real outcomes in a church that is being built right now.

We’re looking for more than an intern. If the fit is right on both sides, this internship is the path to Krino’s Executive Shepherd, our Executive Pastor role.

What you’ll do

  • Shepherd people. Help build Krino Care (prayer and pastoral support). Follow up with Launch Team members and first-time guests within 48 hours. Help shape Krino Pathway for new believers and new members.
  • Run Sundays. Own the run-of-show for Sunday gatherings and the monthly Krino Local site: setup, volunteers, timing, teardown.
  • Build systems. Set up and maintain our church management tools, serve-team schedules and the weekly leadership rhythm with Krino Organizers.
  • Lead teams. Recruit, schedule and encourage volunteers across Krino’s serve teams.
  • Carry the vision. Turn the Shepherd’s direction into plans, owners and dates, and report progress weekly.
  • Grow as a leader. Weekly 1:1 with Pastor Zeek, a shared reading plan, and at least one opportunity to teach.

Who you are

  • Enrolled in, or recently finished, a BA in Theology, Bible or Ministry, an MA in Ministry or Christian Leadership, or a related program. MDiv students are welcome; it is not required.
  • Entrepreneurial: you’ve built something from nothing (a ministry, a business, an event, a team) and you like being early.
  • A shepherd and an operator: you care for people and you finish what you start.
  • Comfortable serving a vision-led model, where the lead pastor sets direction and the team aligns to carry it out.
  • Organized, reliable, and clear in writing.
  • Based in the Triangle and available every Sunday, plus one weeknight team meeting.
  • In agreement with Krino’s statement of faith; willing to complete a background check.

The details

Dates: January 11 – June 30, 2027, with a summer extension possible
Hours: 15–20 per week, including Sundays
Compensation: Monthly stipend [AMOUNT]; academic credit available where your school allows
Location: Durham, in person; some admin work remote

The pathway

  1. Learn (January–March). Shadow, then share ownership of Sundays, care follow-up and systems.
  2. Lead (April–June). Own an area outright: one serve team plus one launch project.
  3. Decide (late June). A mutual review with three possible outcomes: an Executive Shepherd staff offer, an extended internship, or a release with blessing and a strong reference.

No staff role is promised at the start. The internship exists so both sides can decide well.

Apply

Four short steps, about 30 minutes. Answers of 150–250 words are plenty.
